Are you addressing Jake? I don't see what the surviving parents have to do with my post or with his enlightening information. Squishings are a matter of public record upon which Jake and I have as much right to comment as any other Bostonian who manages to navigate the city daily without getting themselves squished. It's only natural to wonder how such a thing could happen, and to speculate that alcohol may have been involved.

There's a difference between tragedy (when, for example, young people die of leukemia or MS) and stupidity (when people walk on train tracks and the obvious happens). The victims here are the T conductors, who are just doing their jobs driving big, obvious pieces of heavy machinery that don't stop on a dime. Now yet another conductor has to live with having squished yet another Darwin Award candidate.

I can tell you that Molly Shattuck was a beautiful, fun, witty, and genuine girl who does not deserve to be ridiculed by your ignorance. She was not a pot smoker nor a drinker- I would know, I grew up with her. Have some respect for her family and friends and keep your mouth shut on something you should have in the first place. So insensitive... Yes, Molly and Drew should not have been on those tracks, but is your heart really made of such pure cruelness and sick sarcasm that you cannot think of what her poor parents must be going through right now? Shame on you.

I hear from my sources that the rail yard is the place for the West Campus kids to go smoke their weed away from the prying eyes of RAs and/or campus police...
So, yeah, we're not really talking about the sharpest knives in the proverbial drawer.
