Shol'va

The sign of shol'va on the ruins of my house - the sword hilt with two snake heads, the arrow pointing two ways - means more than simply "traitor." It symbolizes the Jaffa divided against himself, the host that fights against the god, civil strife, disaffection, and deceit.

It was right to defy the false gods, but perhaps I was wrong to conceal the existence of my family from my friends. Yet looking back upon my decision, I cannot see another path. I have been the man at war with himself, for I have accomplished the thing I had intended to prevent.
